Meet Pegasus & Co

Pegasus & Co started as a dream for Liz. All her life she has been around horses.

She can see the pure beauty of these creatures, their gentleness despite their size, their ability to understand us even though we don’t speak “horse”, the way they comfort us when we need it, the trust they put in us and, in turn, the trust we put in them.

Over the years, Liz has overcome challenges working with horses and has gained tools and knowledge that allowed her to recognise that it’s all about finding creative ways to meet the horses needs so we can work together more harmoniously.

In 2025 Pegasus & Co became a Registered NDIS Provider.

Liz

Animal lover and Director of Pegasus

Liz is never happier than when she’s in a paddock teaching someone the beauty of building a relationship with a horse. With over 40 years experience working with animals as a vet nurse, a stable manager, mounted security officer, pony club and riding teacher, Liz has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to animals, particularly horses.

Liz has a passion for helping people lead a full life and wants to nurture a love and respect for animals.

Martini

Regal, trusting and courageous

Martini is a thoroughbred mare who had a short career in racing. She has been rehabilitated to be a calm, confident soul and is now living in a natural environment where she is able to think and act like a horse.

Martini has now been allowed to express herself and is now a bold, beautiful, brave, respectful character.

She is an example of true dedication to rehabilitate a horse through the use of natural horsemanship.

Rome

Playful and eager to please

Originally named Gold Reactor, Rome has undergone a series of name changes over the years. He is a 10 year old Standard Bred used for harness racing who came to us 6 months ago.

He has gone through our strategic step by step process to ensure he is suitable for our work. We made him feel safe and secure in his new environment.

He is a brave, romantic 💘 gelding who loves a good scratch. He’s patient and kind. His name before we shortened it was Romeo. We settled on Rome, the romantic city that perfectly suits his nature.

Elle

Gentle and considerate

Just like her namesake, Elle is a supermodel. She’s tall and gracious, fun loving and gentle. It’s easy to fall in love with Elle.

Pegasus

The rule follower!

Since the arrival of young Poppy, Pegasus has stepped into the role of sensible older brother. He is our loveable rule enforcer making sure that everyone is behaving and doing the right thing. He is a very small, cute fox terrier.

He keeps a watchful eye over everything and everyone because he has such a huge heart.

He’s earnt the nickname of “Navy Seal” because he looks like he’s standing to attention ready to leap in to defend anyone who needs it.

Whilst he is very serious, he is also very loveable and charismatic and you just can’t help but fall in with him.

Poppy

Funny, cheeky and always ready for a game!

Poppy is the youngest member of our family and she is chock-a-block full of fun and love.

She’s always ready for a game or a cuddle and it’s impossible not to love her.

She’s fun and cute, lively and attentive. She’s just a delight to be around.

Who is Liz Evanov?

From Liz’s early childhood she was introduced to caring for horses as her family was involved with the industry. This allowed her to be associated with horses from the day she was born.

She was taught to ride by her sister who was a competition rider and went on to compete and attend Pony Club from the age of 9. This lead to riding at shows and gymkhanas.

Her passion has always been about horse care and this lead her to pursue a career as a jockey and working at Racing Stables in Randwick. To further her knowledge she studied to become a Veterinary Nurse and worked at Sydney Equine Centre, University of Sydney Camden and numerous Veterinarian Hospitals in Sydney.

Liz has also worked as a groom for professional riders, Stud farms, taught riding at Pony Club and riding schools. She has managed agistment and stables, cared for privately owned horses and advised on feeding and health care.

For five years Liz was a mounted Security Officer at Royal Randwick employed by The Australian Turf Club. She managed their stables and was also employed by The Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Trust.

Liz’s education from numerous coaches and her dedication to learn excellent horse management skills that gained her employment at numerous riding and training facilities gave her a wealth of knowledge and a real understanding of the therapeutic benefits of time in nature with a horse.

In 2020 Liz’s dream of teaching horsemanship came true with her founding Pegasus & Co. She coaches horse owners how to create and sustain a better relationship with their horse, teaches new horse owners how to care for their horses with confidence.

Liz’s services have been sought out from the disability/mental health community as an innovative way to provide support for their mental health or achieve their NDIS goals.

Her approach with horses and people is to be natural and effective.

Liz has had the pleasure of owning 18 horses and has helped many people to understand and gain confidence using the natural horsemanship method. She is continually learning about horses and horse management by surrounding herself with leading experts and mentors from across the globe.

“Horses are my life and I want to share that gift so to better the human understanding of this magnificent and extraordinary species.”
